The Sound of Silence

Hey all. just wanted to apologies for my silence on this blog. I've been working hard on finishing up the Chiller Drive in comic and all the extra "no artistic" stuff is very time consuming. Who new publishing comics was actual work.

Anyway, keep checking back for updates. I'm going to be adding more conventions as time goes on. You should also head over to Facebook and become a fan of GAPOtheClown.com so you can be one of the first to hear some of the super cool news that's coming up in the near future.

You can't see it yet

Sorry for the lack of updates here lately, but there is lots of stuff going on right now. Lots of stuff. I just can't talk about it all just yet. But needless to say; I've been extremely busy.

I can tell you that work is nearly complete on the Wolfman Mac's Chiller Drive-In comic. You know, the one based on the nationally syndicated television show seen across the country on RTV. There will be a major announcement concerning this book coming soon. There will also be some other BIG announcements coming from me in the next couple of months. I can't wait to spill the beans on this stuff, but I just can't. But feel free to speculate and rumor monger all you want.

And for those of you who were so excited about GAPO the Clown reaching the 500th strip mark, you can now own your very own print of the Celebrating #500 comic strip. Just head over to the Gapo Store and order one today. If you you put in a little note asking for one, I just might do a GAPO head sketch on there as well.

GAPO the Clown 2.0

It's finally happened!

Gapotheclown.com has finally been updated. Gone are the endless (okay forty-four) pages you needed to sift through in the archive just to find that one strip from October of 2007 you've been telling your buddy about. Gone is the inability to find that link to that awesome interview given by GAPO's hansom creator. We're entering a new age, baby!

Yes we here at gapotheclown.com have finally caught up with 2006 technology and made a more user friendly web site.

You will now be able to click through to past strips with the arrows conveniently located just below the new strip. There's even a calendar so you can go directly to the day that you may have missed a strip. Or, you can use the pull down menu to go right to your favorite story line. There's even a blog archive so you can go back and read my past ramblings and see what promises I failed to deliver on.

Now there will be some bumps along the way. I'm an old man and technology scares me, so I only just started learning how to use the program that the site now runs on. But, by God, it's so much better then it used to be.

I'd like to thank Brenda K. from www.geektress.com for all her help. She built the site from the ruins I had and I couldn't be happier with the outcome.

So, check out the new site, take it for a test drive and enjoy the shinny new features and new site smell. Because in a few weeks all that will be gone it it will just smell like farts.

Moving Forward

So the new story line is now underway. The big five hundredth strip is behind us. So what do we
have to look forward to from the clown now? Well, something special is in the works. I should have something BIG to announce in a couple of weeks. Maybe a couple of things. I'll also be updating my convention list for 2010. And for those of you that are interested I will be adding a print of the Celebrating #500 comic strip to the GAPO the Clown store, so check back for that.

Celebrating #500

In celebration of the 500th strip, here is a little something special. The first ever double
sized GAPO the Clown strip. On Friday we'll start an all new story line.

Finally #500

And there you have it. Strip #500. To be honest, I never thought I'd make it this far.

When I started this strip it was just a way for me to have something to do to help me stay sane. Had you asked me back in 2004 If I thought I'd still be doing this strip at the start of 2010 I would have told you "no way". I'm just having to much fun with it to stop at this point. I think I have another three or four years left in me. At least.

This is going to be a big year for all things GAPO the Clown. I'm going to have some big news in the next month or so, and some smaller, but no less important, announcements coming soon. I'm very happy with the work that's been done and very excited about what's coming up next.

Anniversary

Well, we've almost made it. Friday will be the 500th GAPO the Clown comic strip. And, true to form, we'll be in the midst of a story. So as a bonus I'm planning to do an extra strip that will pop up over the weekend (I hope). I'm planning some other stuff, some changes that were talked about before, for later in the month, but we'll go into that when it happens. I'm also planning a contest that will be offered to people who are Facebook fans of GAPO, so is you're not a fan yet, go become one. Now.

Back in Business

Okay, we're back in business. Wow, I can't believe how busy this holiday was for us. I hated taking two weeks off from the strip, especially unplanned the way it was, but I just could not get any work done. I do have to admit that the time away from drawing was nice. I didn't realize how much I needed a brake from comic work. I feel energized now. In the last three days I've drawn a full comic page and three strips, finished inking a Killer Robots Love You strip and written a shit load of stuff down. I'm actually feeling productive. Hopefully I can keep this up.

I did get a bit of bad news over Christmas va-ca. I found out that I have tendentious in the thumb on my drawing hand. It's not to bad right now. I wear a wrist brace to help with carpale tunnel syndrome and the doctor said that will help a bit. I will probably have to get cortisone shots at some point.

If my count is right this strip is number 497, so number 500 will drop next Friday (not that it's anything special). I was hoping to do something to mark the occasion, but as with the other "landmark" numbers it seemed to have completely snuck up on me. I do think this is an achievement thought, so I'll have to do something to celebrate. We'll see.

Holidays

Well Christmas kicked my ass this year. I spent the week before running around like a headless chicken and since Christmas eve I've been fight a head cold that seems to be getting worse rather then better. I'm planning on getting at least one strip up this week, but New Years eve means lots of drinking, so no promises.

Hopefully you all had as much fun over the holidays as I did. I never gets old seeing my son get all excited over Santa coming. Got to spend quality time with my wife's family and most of mine (we missed you Helen). It's crazy how nuts it can be having everyone over, with all the running around you have to do, but it's sure is fun when you get to sit down and just enjoy everyone's company. Hopefully we'll be able to get together more in the new year.

Once the week is over I'll be back to my regular work schedule. Here's hoping that the heat in my studio gets fix this week. Happy New Year everyone.
